Southern Talk: A Disappearing Language
Published in Paperback by Bright Mountain Books, Inc. (September, 1994)
Average review score:

Ah...the memories!I'm a native of South Carolina who lives in North Carolina presently, and I've traveled all over the southeastern United States studying the history and culture. For years as I was growing up I tried hard to lose my southern accent. These days I am just so pleased and proud of my southern accent and heritage. This book brought back so many words and phrases I had long forgotten that I heard so frequently when I was growing up. The author presents "southern talk" with a sense of humor, but does not mock or put down those who speak it. In fact, the reader can tell that he has much respect for the folks whose speech patterns and colorful vocabularies inspired him to write this book. He's right--- Because of television, etc., we are all sounding more and more alike. It's sad to think that someday we could no longer have areas with distinct ways of speaking. The U.S. will be much more bland if we lose the phrases and accents that add spice to our lives. It's sad that the younger people on Ocracoke Island have lost their brogue. We should treasure Louisiana Cajun French/English, the Gullah of the Georgia and South Carolina sea islands, the Texas drawl, the Appalachian Mountain twang and all of the different ways people speak. It's beautiful!!!! I am grateful to Ray Cunningham for his efforts to preserve the colorful speech of the South.

The spirit unto the churches : an understanding of man's existence in the body through knowledge of the seven glandular centers : from the psychic readings of Ray Stanford

It's great. I've read it approx. 25 times since 1969.It defies reviewing. It has to be lived. Yes, I first read it in 1969 when it was typed and run off on a copy machine. It requires a reader to make every effort (but only one step at a time) to live what you're reading, to the best of what one knows

Spiritual Warfare

Excellent insights! It is amazing how brightly this deceased author's light is still shining! In my opinion, Mr. Stedman was truly blessed with an understanding of God's Word, but more - he had a gift of being able to write and share this knowledge with others.

Spray: The Work of Howard Arkley
Published in Hardcover by Craftsman House (January, 1998)
Average review score:

A Labour Of Love: Definitive CollectionHoward Arkley's distinctive artwork has had a discernible impact upon contemporary art culture. In this book, leading Australian publisher Ashley Crawford, who edited the award-winning '21.C' and 'World Art' journals, collects together for the first time an extensive collection of Arkley's artwork, pictures, sketches, and monographs.
The result is a powerful book revealing the complex relationship between art and creativity, and Arkley's eye for detail regarding the human condition. The essays and biographical information are excellent. Production values are very high: the artwork is vivid.
The definitive collection for the Arkley addict.

Starbrow: A Spiritual Adventure
Published in Paperback by Findhorn Press (01 March, 2003)
Average review score:

The best Book I ever read. This is nothing short of the most facinating, wonderfull, inlightning and funny book I've ever read! The characters are more than plausible and I can certainly identify with their questions and following progress and adventure. Unlike many of the other so called spiritual novels I've read, "Starbrow" is a real page-turner. I understood and even cared about the characters which is usually almost impossible, when the book aims to be inlightning and funny. The best way to sum up, I guess, is siply this; I feel my life is infinetly better after reading "Starbrow". If it was up to me this book should be prescribed reading in every school worldwide. "Starbrow" vastly improved my outlook on the world we live in, the people I know(and don't know) but more inportantly the way I see myself. This can be either a brilliant sci-fi/fantacy book, the greatest gift you ever got to help you improve your perception of you and everyone else or both! It's up to you. I've read this book at least five times now (first ed)and I still find new knowledge and meanings. This book really did change my life unlike all the numerous self-help books and/or spiritual instruction manuals I've read the past ten years. Read this book! It is truely unique.

Staying Power: How You Can Win in Life's Tough Situations
Published in Hardcover by Thomas Nelson (May, 1986)
Average review score:

Positively Powerful! This book is a gem in the genre of "purposeful living" books. Well-written, inspirational, and instructive, it helps a person see that he or she can indeed make a signicant difference. It is full of examples of the contributions people have made by applying principles from the Bible on a consistent basis. There are also many appropriate quotes that highlight the principles being presented. For example, Charles Haddon Spurgeon on persistence..."By perseverance the snail reached the ark." A good deal of the book is devoted to the success process they observed from various Scriptures. The three step process: A) Start B) Hit Problems C) Experience Victory. This book is full of inspirational guidance. I gladly give it my highest rating.

I have many lighthouse books and all of Bruce Roberts' and Ray Jones' regional guides. I've read them all and used most of them while traveling. I've found them to be first rate, an excellent choice for people who want everything lighthouse between two covers. A joy to look at and informative to read.
